JOIN US AS A SINGER
Birmingham Canoldir are always keen to welcome new voices and we would love you to come and join us.
We rehearse on a Tuesday and/or Friday evening from 7:30 until 9:30, at the Welsh Chapel on the corner of Bath St and Loveday St in Birmingham: B4 6NP.
Throughout the year we give many concerts to raise funds for charities and good causes. We even have some weekends away, those are always good fun…
Our web site has a brilliant “Members Section” where recordings of all rehearsals can be heard. We also have learning tracks on there for all of the music we perform that can be downloaded to help everyone learn new songs at home. It really is a great help and very easy to use!!
You do NOT need to have a solo singing voice, and reading music is certainly not essential. Our Musical Director will have a quick listen to you in private just to decide where you will fit in the choir: Bass, Baritone, 2nd Tenor or Top Tenor. It’s NOT a big audition at all, so absolutely nothing to worry about there.
Birmingham Canoldir is well known for performing concerts to a very high standard, and you can become part of the choir’s future, we’ll help your voice develop, and you won’t be dropped right in at the deep end...
So, come along to a rehearsal on a Tuesday or a Friday evening from 7:30 meet the choir, have a listen, and see what we’re all about. You’ll get a warm, friendly welcome. We can answer any questions you may have. Who knows? It could be the start of a new and exciting venture…
Birmingham Canoldir Male Choir are a Premier Choir based in Birmingham formed in 1966 when a small group of Welsh exiles and some English friends decided to establish a male voice choir. The name CANOLDIR is Welsh for 'the Middle Land'; our crest shows the Dragon of Wales and the Lion of England and we are very proud of this joint heritage.
In the choir's 50 years, we have performed at many prestigious events and venues both in the UK and abroad.
We continue to work to raise money for charities and make it a priority to encourage the musical youth of Birmingham by giving them a platform from which to showcase their talents. As such many of our concerts include talented young musicians and singers from local schools and potential stars from The Birmingham Conservatoire.
We have performed our Annual concerts at the Symphony Hall or Town Hall Birmingham and over the years have worked with guest artists including

"it is a real pleasure to sing with the Canoldir boys. They exude passion, commitment and professionalism, and it's a privilege to share a stage with them. Not only are they a welcoming and friendly bunch, they make singing a fun experience and James keeps the music-making vibrant and focussed. No wonder they win prizes!'
